Poor Orion

Well Orion's job is slowly sucking the life out of him. He works long days and it has gotten the best of him. We are pretty sure that he had pneumonia. I say pretty sure because he does not have health insurance at the moment so we can't really go to the doctor. It was pretty bad for about two weeks. He would come home eat and fall asleep or just be really tired until he fell asleep. Then when he was sleeping he would wake up and cough. Poor guy. One day two weeks ago he could only manage to work for three hours before he had to come home or he would have passed out. Here he is napping, a thing he never does.
He napped for almost four hours that day. The next week his work wanted him to work 11 hour days Monday - Friday and then four hours on Saturday. He did the best he could but by Thursday he was out of it and could not go into work at all. The good news is now he can breath and not feel like he is not getting enough oxygen. The bad news is he still has a cough. Poor guy. Next month he will become an official employee and get health insurance so if this ever happens again we can go to a doctor right away.

One Year Anniversary

So last Saturday was Orion and I's one year anniversary. I can't believe it has been a year already! Time really does fly when you are having fun. Ok so the last year has not been totally fun... There was that two month span where Orion was jobless and we ALMOST moved in with his parents in FresNO. Ever since we got married I have been working like a man woman to finish my degree online and it has brought me to tears more times than I would like to admit. Oh yeah lets not forget our stupid car breaking down a billion times costly us over a thousand dollars to fix. I hate that car and we are hoping to buy a new one next month, one that actually is reliable and not an ex cop car.

Now on to the good stuff. To celebrate we started a couple weeks early. Orion got an X BOX 360, which he has been drooling over forever and two games for it. I was  a little sad because he got his gift two weeks earlier and I got nothing. I know selfish right? Well on Wednesday we went to farmer's market. Oh how I love going! Orion bought me some lilies! A dozen for three bucks! What a steal!

They are currently sitting on our kitchen table looking lovely a week later. Then on Friday my presents arrived in the mail. I was home because I am always home during the day. Well except on Thursday when I watch the cutest little boys. So I had to sit near the packages all day long and NOT open then. Let me tell you it was torture! Once Orion got home he said I could open one. I was so excited! I got an early present! I got what I really wanted to!
A kindle! It is an electronic book that can hold 3,500 books! I was so excited. Orion tricked me to think that he was getting me something else so I had no idea I was getting the kindle. I have already read an entire book on it and I have had it for less than a week. I am in love with my kindle. There are lots of books out there that are FREE on the kindle or cheaper than a physical book. It is wonderful because I love to read and I can take this with me anywhere.

Saturday morning was our actual anniversary and it was so much fun. In the morning we went for a hike in Montana de Oro where Orion proposed to me. It was really great. Before we got there we stopped in downtown SLO because Orion wanted to buy something for me. It was a surprise so I waited in the car till he came back. He brought back chocolate covered strawberries! I love those and the best part was he had another surprise for me that I got later. I got the surprise on our hike.

Those were just some of the things we saw along our hike. It was so beautiful. As we were walking along Orion wanted to stop and take some pictures. He told me to close my eyes and not open them until he said so. When I opened them he had put a pair of toe socks on his hand and on one of the fingers was a ring! I love toe socks especially the knee high ones. And it is a runny joke with us that he gets me socks as presents. I was more excited for the ring though. It was the style that I have wanted for a long time.

I bet people thought Orion was proposing to me all over again. That was such a fun hike. It was right along the ocean the entire time. I am really greatful that we live in such a beautiful place.

For dinner that night we went to Red Lobster because I LOVE seafood. Normally we would have done Sushi because we both love it, but we decided to do something different. It was delicious! I got lobster and shrimp while Orion got shrimp and steak. For dessert we had cheese cake. You know how some couples save the top of their wedding cake and eat it on their first anniversary? Well we had cheese cake for our wedding cake so we did not have a top layer. I bought Cheesecake Factory cheesecake from Costco to celebrate. It was the same kind of cheesecake we had at our reception. I even put our wedding topper on the cake.
We also had homemade strawberry sauce on top of the cheesecake. It was wonderful! We wanted to go somewhere for a mini vacation for our one year anniversary, but Orion's work schedule is pretty crazy. So we stayed home and bought each other presents. I also made Orion a scrapbook of our wedding as a surprise for him. I am so glad that I get to spend forever with my wonderful husband. Hopefully next year he won't be so new at work and can take a vacation for our anniversary. Who knows how many more we will have that we will have the opportunity to travel before we have little ones.

Classes

I have found that finishing my degree online is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I will graduate in December and I don't know what I will do with myself after I graduate. Learning is something that I live for. It is something that inspires me. I love to learn! There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about things that I have learned. Whether there were in a virtual class discussion or a picture my teacher posted from Paris I am constantly learning something. For a communication class I am taking we had to pick two speeches to watch and this is one that I picked. It gave me goose bumps and made me re think the way I look at things. There are not words to describe the way I feel when I stumble across items like that video. I feel alive when I am blessed with the opportunity to learn something that challenges me. I can feel myself changing as I start to question how I understand something. I live for those moments and I hope that I can continue to learn every single day of my life.
