Daddy Daughter

Orion likes to tell me that Adilyn loves him the best. We all know that is simply not true. Hello who feeds her in the middle of the night and changes her diaper? Who plays with her in the morning while someone (Orion) is still sleeping? Who can get her to stop crying? Oh right that is me her mommy. I am sure someday soon Orion will actually become her favorite because he is the less strict one. But until then I am loving being her favorite.

Back to daddy daughter time. Orion likes to have little conversations with Adilyn. He sits her up next to him on the couch and they chit chat.
Sometimes she is not really interested in what he has to say.
What can I say she likes to look at me more than daddy.
Here Orion is trying to convince her that he is more interesting than me. Clearly it was not working.

Sometimes Adilyn likes to watch Orion eat breakfast.
She did not want to be left out so she started sucking on her fist. It is her favorite past time. Instead of suck on her thumb she sucks on pointer finger or a combination of her other fingers.

It is days like today that are the hardest on me. Orion went into work early to do a double shift. He woke up at 6 to get ready and in the process woke up Adilyn. She normally wakes up around 7:30 or 8. We have a schedule that works well for us and when she gets thrown off schedule her entire day is really hard. So today was extra hard because she was so tired she could barely sleep and I had to deal with a fussy baby all day long by myself. I like to remind myself that not every day is like this. Some days are great! Like last Sunday when Adilyn was super cute.
Look at her cute little dress. I just love it. Too bad she is basically too big for it now. Dang her growing so fast!
She has a hard time on every Sunday because church messes up her morning nap and usually her afternoon one. (She basically takes four naps a day that are 1-2 hours long) I would just love it if she would take 2 long naps but we have not reached that point yet. Someday.  But last Sunday was not so bad.
She is just so cute! Whenever I get the camera out she looks right at, but never smiles. I can have her smiling and laughing, but as soon as the camera comes out she gets straight faced. What a little booger.

Hungry Eyes

Orion likes to send me this picture at random times.
He says it these are Adilyn's hungry eyes. He will send me this picture whenever I am not in the room. He thinks it is the funniest thing in the world. I think he is just weird sometimes.

My Not So Little Lady

She is 13.2 pounds now! That is a 5 pound gain since she was born 2.5 months ago. She just keeps growing and growing!
Her rolls have rolls.
For the most part she has no neck because she is such a chunk at the moment.
But check out her blue eyes. I just love them so much! She got them from her dad ;) Another thing she got from Orion is his height. She has grown 4 inches since she was born. If she could stand she would be two feet tall.
I just love her so much. I thought that she would be on the high end for her weight and height but she is in between the 75th and 90th percentile. I guess she is not that big.

Her favorite past time is eating (duh), followed by being held and sucking on her fist. I think she is attempting to suck on her thumb but has not mastered it yet. She loves to sit up with her boppy supporting her or sitting on the couch. Just the other day she started being interested in her toys. She will grab them and bring them to her mouth. Of course she is always surprised by herself and quickly drops the toy and starts the process over again. Also she loves mom the best. Orion can only hold her for so long before she gets bored with him and wants me to hold her. Sometimes she will get fussy with Orion and as soon as he hands her to me she is happy. On day I am sure this will change.

She was doing amazing at sleepy (only waking up once a night), but that only lasted a week or so. Now she is backing to waking up twice a night :( I am hoping that by my birthday she will be back to just once a night. I want to move her into her own room soon, but I want to wait till she can sleep longer at night. She is almost too big for her bassinet. I can't complain too much because she is a really good baby.

I just love how fascinated Adilyn is with life. She likes to just stare at things now and I like to stare at her. That sounds a little bit creepy...
Here she is realizing that there is something hanging out above her. Too bad the mobile does not actually move. It is broken I guess because every time I try to turn it on nothing happens. Maybe I just don't know what I am doing. It swings back and forth and keeps Adilyn entertained which is all that matters to me.
Don't worry we normally strap her in the swing. I just noticed how entertained she was by the mobile after I put her in that I had to take a picture. Now she is realizing she has hands and will reach out for things. She still gets startled when things move after she touches them. Or brings her hand back to her chest after touching something for the first time. It truly is amazing to watch a baby learn and grow.

The Coast

A couple of weeks ago Adilyn and I went to the coast with Orion's family. Orion had to work that day so he missed out. We had so much fun! Adilyn slept most of the day. It was her second time at the beach and I don't think she even saw the ocean. The sound of the waves crashing just made her sleepy. It was a windy day so I bundled my little lady up.
(Honestly blogger why are you making this picture sideways? It is upright when I upload the picture but sideways when it loads. You are stupid!)

Here is Adilyn all ready for the beach. She stayed awake long enough for me to eat my lunch and then promptly fell asleep in her baby carrier.

We were gone all day and were of course fast asleep by the time Orion got home from work. He missed me (I am sure he missed Adilyn too, but he did not try to wake her up to say so. What a smart man I have) and wanted to do something nice. So he made a batch of cookie dough and started to bake some chocolate chip cookies for me. When he came into our room he woke me up by saying he had a surprise for me. I responded by saying 'OK' and rolled over and fell back asleep. What a mean wife I am! He told what I did in the morning and I felt so bad. In my defense I was super tired and he did not try that hard to wake me up.

From Hate to Love

When Adilyn was born she hated her car seat.

For some reason I can't rotate this picture. Lame! Anyways, this is Adilyn 24 hours old hating her car seat. She would scream and cry whenever we put her in it for the first couple weeks of her life. Eventually she grew to love her car seat. Now she even falls asleep while we drive.

She still has not mastered smiling on demand. One day...
