Little Surprises

I got a phone call today from my apartment manager. That never happens, so of course I start to wonder what is wrong. Why is that whenever you get called on by someone a manager, teacher, or boss you instantly think you are in trouble? Is that just me? I know I did nothing wrong, but I just can't help myself. Anyways, she called to tell me that I had a $28 dollar credit for rent! Sweet! I have no idea why I had it but it has apparently been waiting for me for months now. For some reason no one has told me until today.

Another awesome thing that happened the other day was my cell phone bill. We recently switched providers to save some money. Every dollar counts when you have a little one on the way! The lady I talked too about new phones and service was so sweet! I ended up getting tons of credit for my account. My bill for this month -$36. Yep I have a credit on my cell phone/internet bill. Can we say AMAZING!!! I love when little surprises like that happen.

Real Adults

Orion and I are becoming real adults more and more everyday. Yesterday we booked a room at Cambria Pines Lodge. It was the first time either of us had ever booked a room. We stayed at this lovely lodge for our honeymoon, but someone else booked and payed for it. (Thanks wonderful family members for pitching in for that!)
This place is gorgeous! Check out their website. Our two year anniversary is just around the corner and we are heading to Cambria to celebrate. I am so excited. Our room is going to be a cottage setting, surrounded by woods, the light sounds of the ocean, and my favorite part a crackling fire place. I am so excited!!!!

One of Orion's co workers told us about a coupon that ran in the Fresno Bee for Cambria Pines Lodge and we were so excited. The coupon is good for a nights stay with dinner and breakfast! The restaurant at this place is so good! Orion is going to have Filet Mignon for dinner there. He already looked through the dinner menu, he is that excited. For this trip we are going to remember to bring our camera. For some reason we ALWAYS forget to bring our camera when we go on trips. But not this time! I have already started a list of things we need to bring for our little get away.

Quilt

Since I have lots of time on my hands I have decided to make a quilt. Considering that I have only ever made a quilt once in my life, I knew it had to be simple. My first quilt attempt took years, literally years, to finish. My mom ended up having someone else finish it for me because I just never finished it. I started it when I was in high school and had to use someone's sewing machine to get anything done. So you can see why it took so long. But now I have a sewing machine of my own! (Thanks to Orion, he used all of his bonus Christmas money our first year of marriage and bought me one. I sure do love him.)
I am only using for different fabrics because I want this quilt to be as simple as possible. After all I am making it all by myself. Well I had a friend help me pick out the fabric and cut it. She supervised to make sure I did not mess anything up. It is going to be a baby/toddler size quilt. Nothing huge. I am going to uses 9 inch by 9 inch squares, which makes it super easy to put together. At least that is my hope.

When I came home from the store and should Orion the fabric he thought I did a good job. He also said he would laugh if our child was actually a boy because I would have to make a brand new quilt. If that happens I will gladly make another. So here goes my first attempt to make something all on my own without any supervision! Wish me luck!

I just finished this book and I really enjoyed it. Some of the ladies in church have a book club every month and this was the book we read. We figured that since Easter is coming up this book would be perfect and it was. Most of the time when I think about reading about the Atonement I think about how guilty I tend to feel. The Savior suffered A LOT to make it possible for me to over come my weaknesses. When I think about that sometimes it is hard not to feel guilty for the pain He suffered because of me. But this book made me understand how much Jesus wanted to Atone for me. It is not something I should feel guilty about because it was something He wanted to do. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to better understand what the Savior has done.

23 Weeks

So I am about 23 weeks pregnant. I am never really sure how many weeks it is because a lot of the times I forget that I am pregnant. So far I have not really had many common symptoms of being pregnant. I am however a snacking machine as of late. The baby is moving around, but mostly at night time. The real reason why I some times forget I am pregnant is the fact that I don't really look like I am.
Please excuse my dirty mirror. I cleaned it after I took this picture. As you can see there is really not much of a bump at all. I just look kind of fat :( When I tell people how far along I am (over half way through) they get such a surprised look on their face. Really you are that far along? I want to say, no I am just kidding I just want an excuse to eat this much. Clearly that is when my pregnancy hormones flare up a bit.

I feel like a little kid these days. I have to pack snacks and a drink whenever we go out. Orion always asks me if I have something to snack on before we leave to do errands. He knows how grouchy I get when I am hungry and wants to avoid that at all costs. I knew I married a smart man! I can't wait for the day when I actually look pregnant and people will stop assuming I have a fat belly. I told Orion I might have to get a shirt that says I am pregnant so I feel a little bit better about myself.

Baby

This is what I want my baby's dresser to look like. I have a dresser that is sanded and just waiting for me (mostly Orion) to paint it. It has been sitting in my in-laws garage for months now. I have just loved the color combo, but I have been putting off painting it for one reason or another. But this coming weekend the painting will happen! At least that is the plan anyways. In my dream nursery the crib would be white so that it would match perfectly with the dresser. Then I started thinking about how messy babies are and thought maybe white was not such a good idea. If only cribs were not super expensive life would be much easier!

Questions

So I saw this on  friends blog. It is a list of 11 random questions to answer, plus11 random facts, and a picture. I thought it was interesting and would give it a try. There are some "rules" to go along with this, but I am not much for following rules on my blog. So I figured I could follow half of the "rules", which means I answer the questions, but don't come up with more for other people.
This is my favorite picture of Orion and I. It was the best day of my life and I am sure it was Orion's as well.

 11 Random Things about Me:
I am currently reading the Harry Potter series, even though when they came out I refused to do so.
Some days the idea of staying in bed is really very tempting.

I am scared to have a baby in July. (Hello I have no idea what I am doing!)
Our child is still nameless. I fear that she will always been known as Platypus.
I want to own my a business someday. I just have to come up with a good idea first.
I have always wanted to write a book.
I hope to never have cable or satellite in my house.

11 Random Questions
1. What's your favorite recipe? {and please share if it's that good!} That is easy pizza! There are not many things I am good at making but pizza is one of them. I make the dough in my Kitchen aid, best thing Orion ever convinced me to buy, and it is so easy! 1 1/2 cups warm water, 2 1/4 tsp yeast (or the small package you buy at the store). Let the water and the yeast sit together for five minutes or so. 2 TBSP of olive oil, 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and 3 1/2 cups flour (of however much is needed so the dough is no longer sticky). Once the dough is all mixed place in glass bowl with a little bit of olive oil at the bottom so you can coat the dough. Cover with plastic wrap for at least an hour. Then bam it is ready to roll out and make a yummy pizza. I like to bake the dough for a couple minutes before I put all the toppings on to ensure that the dough is fully cooked when the pizza is done. I normally cook it at 350 - 375 until the cheese is nice and melty. About ten to fifteen minutes.
2. What's one career that always seemed super awesome, but not 'practical', that you've always wanted? Uh... When I was little I wanted to grow up to be a waitress. I still have no idea why I wanted to do that.
3. If you could trade places with someone, who would it be and why? Orion so I can see the world the way he does.
4. Favorite TV show character? This is a hard question because I don't have a favorite TV show. The first person that popped into my head was Topanga (I don't know how to spell her name) from Boy Meets World. I always thought she was kind of weird but very confident in herself. I feel like I am the same way at times.
5. If you could go to any concert, for a person {or group} who is dead or alive, who would it be? Jack's Mannequin. I have seen him live before and it was AMAZING! I would love to go again.
6. In your opinion, what's the best place to go for a burger? IN N OUT. I love that place
7. What's the coolest little-known thing about you? I have a super long tongue and I am excellent at "Baby if you love me"
8. What question do you wish I had asked? And answer it! Where would you want to go on vacation? To the beach with my sweet man so we can stroll up and down the sand. Probably San Diego so we can visit all the places I went to when I was young.
9. What talents do you have? Loving people even when others don't see the need to. Listening to others when it really matters. Also I have been told that I am a pretty good baby whisperer.
10. How many cool places have you traveled to, and what's the best one? That depends on your definition of cool. The coolest place I think I have ever been to was the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. I could get lost in there for days and not notice. There is something about the ocean and the creatures that live in that posses me at times.
11. Describe the one person you cannot live without. He is six foot one inch tall. Short brown hair. Pretty blue eyes. A smile that makes me melt. Patience that I can't even begin to match. A genuine concern for my happiness. Best husband and best friend I could ever ask for. Father of our future little lady. I could go on but I will stop before any of you barf. ;)

Seed

My sweet little nieces are old enough to wonder where babies come from. Victoria, who is six, asked her mom how I got a baby in my belly. I can just imagine the shock this sent through her mother. Is six too young to talk about how women get pregnant? Should she lie about where they come from? I think she came up with a brilliant answer. She said that Uncle Orion gave Aunt Kayde a seed and that is how the baby started to grow.
Victoria informed me that she knew how I got pregnant. She pointed to my belly and said Uncle Orion gave me a seed and that is where babies come from. She was very confident. Later when I showed her pictures of the baby she asked if I had to go back to the doctor's later. I of course said yes, thinking that she meant that I had more doctor's appointments. In her mind it meant that the next time I went to the doctor he would be taking the baby out. She then exclaimed that she knew that the doctor would give me my baby. I could not help but laugh. For the most part she is right Orion did give me a "seed" that started the whole process. And I will go to the doctor when it is time for our little one to enter the world.

She also KNEW that we were going to have a girl. If only I could be six again and KNOW so much about the world!
